SALZBURG & INNSBRUCK

Be sure to visit our PHOTO GALLERY to see more photographs of Salzburg and Innsbruck plus all our other destinations.

And as always, non-golfers are welcome to join and enjoy their dream holiday with special outings and sightseeing on the days the golfers are out on the course.

When you fall in love with a destination,                                         it keeps calling you to return.

Again. And again!

And then you realise that the destination is simply too appealing to keep it a secret.

So, we packaged a golfing holiday to this remarkable destination in 2018 and have been returning with groups ever-since.

It’s time for everyone to discover and enjoy the region.

 Day 1

After assembling at Munich Airport, we start our tour on a high note and transfer directly to Munich’s famous Hofbräuhaus… for beer and pretzels like the locals.

After our introduction to the Bavarian lifestyle at the Hofbrauhaus, there will be a chance to walk around the sprawling MarienPlatz (the central square of Munich) and some of its surrounding markets to take in the ambience of one of Europe’s main cities, before transferring to Salzburg. Along the way we stop at the beautiful lakeside town of     Prien am Chiemsee for a comfort stop and refreshments.

Then we head to the picture-postcard town of SALZBURG, famed for so much and which never ceases to wow everyone who visits its historical and colourful Old Town.

And as always, non-golfers are welcome to join and enjoy their dream holiday with special outings and sightseeing on the days the golfers are out on the course.

Our hotel in central Salzburg was selected for being close to all attractions but located on a pedestrian mall to be away from vehicle noise. After settling in, an evening stroll through the Old Town and dinner in one of Salzburg’s famous squares is the perfect way to end our first day on tour.

Day 2 Today is a big day! There are many folklore stories about EAGLE’S NEST, the most popular being that the incredible engineering feat was a birthday present for Adolf Hitler (which was partly true). Today you not only get a chance to establish the real story, but also to visit the house which sits atop a mountain at a height of 1 934m. The experience begins when one enters the tunnel at the foot of the mountain, through the security gates and then a quick ride in the brass-lined elevator car…. pure opulence. Apart from the museum in the house, which highlights a lot of the history of the time, the views across Austria and into Germany are jaw dropping. After time for lunch in the open-air restaurant with the world at your feet, our drive back to Salzburg is through the scenic Berchtesgaden National Park… the oldest protected region in the Alps.

From Eagles Nest, we head to the incredible RED BULL HANGER 7 COMPLEX, where a museum of cars, planes, modern technology and world achievement is being created by RED BULL. An awe-inspiring visit for everyone, with displays including such diverse achievements as Vettell’s championship car to the Rocket Man’s actual flight suit to just about every type of important aeroplane ever built.

Our last stop for the day is the world-famous STIEGL Brewery for a tour of Austria’s top brewery. After the tour, there will be time for beer tasting and snacks, before heading back to spend the evening exploring the sights of Salzburg and the restaurants in the squares.

Day 3 Our first round of golf is on the spectacular Berchtesgaden course, which lies just below the Eagles Nest. Surrounded by alpine peaks and lying at 900 meters above sea level, Berchtesgaden is an alpine course with a layout and views never to be forgotten.

While the golfers are out on the course, non-golfers are spoiled for choice in Salzburg And there is a long list for every taste and interest. Some of the highlights certain to attract attention include a visit to the Palace looking down on Salzburg, browsing the narrow streets filled with fascinating crafts of the region, or exploring the many small breweries along the river, music concerts in the magnificent theatres, a river cruise, a visit to HELLBRUNN Palace, where many of the scenes for the film The Sound of Music were filmed (or even the half day Sound of Music experience)

Day 4 Mondsee Golf Club is certainly one of the most beautiful courses you will find anywhere. Looping around a serene lake it brings together the Alps, the scenery, the calmness of the lake... absolute tranquility. The church in the quaint nearby town of Mondsee is where the wedding scenes of the film Sound of Music were filmed.

Entrance to Swarovski

Day 5 Today we bid farewell to lovely Salzburg and head west to the picture-postcard town of Innsbruck, made famous for hosting two winter Olympics and is our home for the next five nights. Innsbruck offers endless attractions and activities and we always try to fit in as many as possible. Along the way we stop to enjoy the sparkling experience of Swarovski’s KRISTALLWELTEN, the home of these famous crystals. The visual effects created from millions of crystals make it an unbelievable adventure for everyone…. and keen photographers will be in their element to capture the creations. After the KRISTALLWELTEN Experience the Swarovski shopping experience awaits…. complete with the Crystal Coffee Shop and Bar.

Our hotel of choice in Innsbruck is just meters from the centre of the town, with a selection of restaurants and beer gardens close by. Once settled, an orientation walk around the Old Town with its cobblestones and narrow walkway’s is the perfect introduction to this welcoming town.

Day 6 Innsbruck has twice played host to the Winter Olympics and today we visit some of the Olympic venues to relive the excitement of the those winter games. Our day in the world of Olympics takes us on breathtaking cable car rides and gives us a chance to slow down at lunchtime to enjoy the unforgettable mountain scenery of this famous region One of the highlight events at the Winter Olympics is the Bobsleigh. Our visit to the famous “Olympia Eiskanal” of Innsbruck gives you the chance to not only see it up close, but also the opportunity for an optional ride on a slower “tourist style” bobsleigh, before an evening of optional alpine music or the chance to explore Innsbruck’s golden lights.

Day 7 After breakfast, we transfer to perhaps Bavaria’s best-known sight…. NEUSCHWANSTEIN, a 19th-century Romanesque Revival palace, commissioned by Ludwig II of Bavaria as a retreat and as a homage to Richard Wagner. No visit to Bavaria is complete without a visit to Neuschwanstein…. It even looks like Disneyland.

Day 8 Golf today is on the beautiful and challenging Seefeld-Wildmoos course, nestled in forests below alpine peaks. The view across the course from the friendly clubhouse is an alpine dream and the winding course is certain to be a long-term memory.

Day 9 Sadly our holiday has come to an end, so after breakfast we check out of our hotel and transfer to Munich Airport for our flights back home.
